Welcome to the Pit Power guide for FRC. This guide pertains specifically to setting up the pit power with the high-voltage distribution equipment shipped in the PODS. Events that only run extension cords aren’t covered in this guide.
There are two main phases to pit power setup: setting up and operating the generator and setting up and operating the pit power distribution equipment (i.e., main distribution box and spider box). Some venues provide power outlets that the generator would ordinarily have, which allows half of the process to be skipped. The event’s Event Manager and/or Site Liaison should have information on the plans for pit power, such as the source of power and a rough idea of cable paths.
